New Legacies: Contemporary Art Quilts

Four Fiber Visions artists were juried into New Legacies: Contemporary Art Quilts which recently opened at the Lincoln Center in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Patty Hawkins received the Prize for Creative Artistry with her work Forest Rebirth.

Do Palma received the Jurors Choice Award for her piece Red Tree.

Mary McCauley has two pieces, Monarch and Hokusai's Wave, in the show.

And Melody Randol has a total of three pieces included in the exhibition with an image of one being featured in publicity for the show.

New Legacies: Contemporary Art Quilts is on display July 11 - August 30, 2014.

Small Works Exhibition

Small Works - Fabric Treasures will be opening at the Bas Bleu Theatre in Fort Collins on July 4, 2014.  There are two Artist's Receptions scheduled, one July 4 and August 1, both from 5-7:00 pm.  The exhibition will be on display thru August 31, 2014.

A big "thank you" to Gwen Hatchette who has been instrumental in organizing the exhibition.

 Marking Time by Linda Beach is one of several images included in the new book The Ultimate Guide to Art Quilting by Linda Seward.  Published by Sixth and Spring Books and available on Amazon, the book is a comprehensive guide to the various techniques used in art quilting.

Do Palma Awarded Visual Arts Fellowship

"It was an immense honor to be awarded a Visual Arts Fellowship by the Wyoming Arts Council! Lucky me.  Congratulations to the other winners, Suzanne Morlock and Aaron Wilson.  And thank you to the jurors,  Marji Vecchio, Sean Miller and Julie Muniz."  Do Palma (2nd from right)

Visual Arts fellowships are awards of merit, based on the artist’s portfolio, honoring the work of Wyoming visual artists whose work reflects serious and exceptional investigation, juried by noted artists from outside the state.
Recipients of the visual arts fellowships receive a cash award and exhibit their work in the Wyoming Arts Council Biennial Exhibit, held every two years at a major visual arts institution in state.

Quilt Visions 2014: The Sky's the Limit

It is so wonderful to be able to announce that three members of Fiber Visions, Vicki Carlson, Melody Randol and Linda Beach all have work juried into the prestigious biennial Quilt Visions 2014: The Sky's the Limit exhibition!

The exhibition will open on October 11 with a reception from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at the Visions Art Museum in San Diego.  The festivities continue on Sunday with an artists' tour of the gallery and a panel discussion, details of both to be announced soon.

Green Art: Trees, Leaves and Roots

Patty Hawkins, Melody Randol and Linda Beach all have work in Ashley Rooney's upcoming book Green Art:  Trees, Leaves and Roots. 

To quote the author, "In this work, more than 100 artists from around the world will exhibit their work with trees, roots and leaves, creating magic and mystery for us to delight in."  The book will be available soon at Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
